"DREAMS + FALSE BORDERS" VIDEO CONVO W/MUSICIAN NYTTU CHONGO UP AT 128 LIT

Check out this video of a cool conversation I got to have with my friend the musician Nyttu Chongo over at 128 Lit. We discuss the influence of dreams on our artistic practices. Nyttu plays a variety of traditional instruments such as the mbira, timbila, inanga, xitende, and guitar. Nyttu and I met by chance at the post office and found we have a lot in common in our approaches toward art. All of Nyttu's musical work is based on dreams. I recently completed a manuscript titled The Book of Matthew based on the dreams I describe in the interview. This conversation took place on June 1st, 2023 alongside the Mississippi River within sight of the Hennepin Avenue Bridge in Minneapolis, MN.

Click here to view a collaboration between Nyttu and I at a performance of The Waves. In that collaboration, Nyttu is playing the mbira, an instrument he refers to a few times in the interview.

My sincere thanks to editors Andrew Felsher and Yehui Zhao for offering space for this conversation to take place.
